Last Prisoner Project

“Uncle Mark” was a #cannabis grower in California, Oregon, and Washington beginning in the 1970’s. In the 1990s he was arrested in Washington among a group of growers. Mark refused to give information about his friends and was sentenced to federal prison for 10 years. A few years into his sentence, he became very ill, and lacking the proper medical care in #prison, died at the age of 53.

When #marijuana became #legal for adult use in #Oregon, Rebel Spirit Farms started Uncle Mark’s Farm with the hope of giving Mark a happier ending to his story, to redeem his reputation and tell who he really was: not a criminal, but a loving, generous, free-spirited soul that did not deserve that end. He died for doing exactly what other Americans are doing now in a thriving industry.
